Vice President, Legal Counsel

We are looking for an experienced healthcare attorney to provide and coordinate legal representation and advocacy for CHA and its member hospitals.  The incumbent will serve as an in-house attorney, providing legal analysis and opinions, issues management, and other legal services in addition to answering questions and acting as a legal resource for member hospitals.  Additionally, the incumbent will coordinate efforts with outside legal counsel and provide expertise on legislation and regulations.

Requirements for this position include a JD and admission to the California Bar along with at least five years of related experience providing legal services in a health care setting.  The successful candidate will also be proficient in a broad range of health policy issues; have a demonstrated ability to bring together diverse groups in a collaborative and effective manner; possess excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and public speaking; have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; be able to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment; be effective at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment; have a solid understanding of California’s legislative process; and the ability and willingness to work long, irregular hours as well as occasional overnight travel.

Paid Time Off

Accruals begin immediately according to the schedule below:

  • 18 days for up to 2 years of employment
  • 21 days for 2 - 5 years of employment
  • 25.5 days for 5 - 9 years of employment
  • 30 days for 9+ years of employment

Employee Assistance Program
